CULTURAL EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP

Wigan and Leigh’s Local Cultural Education Partnership collaborates to support the needs of children and young people in the borough through arts and culture. The group is made up of a diverse range of stakeholders, including cultural organisations, educational institutions, local authorities and community groups. Our active collaboration is key to creating a more cohesive, accessible and relevant local offer for the children and young people. For Wigan, our goal is to ensure that every child and young person in the borough has the opportunity to engage in high-quality cultural and creative activities where they live.

On a practical level, we are working to ensure that children and young people have a voice and the opportunity to shape cultural activities. We are working to strengthen our relationship with teachers, teaching artists and other educators to improve quality of cultural education provision across Wigan Borough and increase the capacity of culture organisation (and schools) to deliver a diverse and rolling programme of cultural education initiatives. Lastly, we are advocating the importance of our work so that education policy leads recognise the value of arts.
